Commissions and Architectural Art

On this page are examples of a number of pieces by David Mitchell which he produced to commission.

David Mitchell completed work on two glass art panels for Chaucer Syndicates Ltd in 2007.  The specially commissioned
3-dimensional glass panels were installed in the boardroom of Chaucer Syndicates new offices at 'Plantation Place' in Fenchurch Street, London.

Commission for private residence

David designed and produced these decorative fused glass panels with clear glass over panels, supporting bonded individual polished fin hemispheres, to this existing column. The panels are supported on three sides of the column which due to the nature of the fire rated cladding meant that no fixing could be made into the existing cladding. A special stainless steel system was therefore designed and manufactured to hold the glass without the need to drill into the column itself.

Commission for private residence

Private clients commisioned the piece pictured below for their residence. This is a development of the piece David exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, with two central hemispheres constructed as glass fins sitting over a fused glass panel. The second smaller hemisphere sits inside the larger one. The whole panel has been designed to have no  visible hanger so that it appears to 'float' on the wall.
